We spend so much time and energy on diet and exercise, but what if the most powerful source of energy we have isn't in what we eat or how we move? What if it's in our emotions? As Karla McLaren, author of The Language of Emotions, says, "We work with nutrition and exercise to increase our energy, but we ignore the richest source of energy we possess—our emotions."
Now, I want to ask you a question, and it might sound a little strange. Take a moment to just listen to your thoughts. What's running through your mind right now? Are they positive, or negative?
When you walk down the street with those thoughts, do you think anyone can tell exactly what you're thinking? Probably not. But can they tell how you're feeling? Absolutely. While no one can read your mind, they can pick up on your energy.
That's because our thoughts are incredibly powerful. They shape our entire attitude, which, in turn, influences our demeanor and how we carry ourselves. And it doesn't stop there—your attitude also has a ripple effect on everyone you encounter.
The kind of attitude you choose to carry is entirely up to you. A positive attitude is invigorating, not just for you but for those around you. It's a source of energy that can uplift and inspire others. A negative attitude, on the other hand, drains energy from everyone in the room. It can make you appear sad or gloomy and can even turn a happy gathering somber. People are naturally drawn to a positive attitude and tend to shy away from negativity.
The benefits of a positive attitude are immense. Studies show that it can:
Promote better health and even slow down the aging process.
Help you attract and build more friendships.
Improve your ability to handle stress and overcome problems.
Aromatherapy is another powerful tool that can help us cultivate a positive mindset, as certain essential oils have a direct affinity with our central nervous system. Some of my favorites for their relaxing effects are:
Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata)
Jasmine (Jasminum grandiflorum)
Neroli (Citrus x aurantium)
Sweet Marjoram (Origanum majorana)
What's not to love about a positive attitude? You have nothing to lose and so much to gain. It can improve your health, help you cope with life's challenges, and positively impact every person you meet.
Make the choice to cultivate a positive attitude today. It's a simple change with a profound impact.
With love,
Raghda!
